CD8 T cell differentiation stages and its function in each stage

Our study on CD8 T cell differentiation, using 4-color analysis of a tetramer with antibodies specific for CD27, CD28, CD45RA, and perforin, as well as by the measurement of CD8 T cell activation, revealed there were, at least, 5~7 stages in differentiation process of CD8 T cell, from naive to effector cell (Fig.2) (J. Immunol. 168:5538-5550, 2002). Detailed explanation of differentiation process could be brought to light by studying co-expression of various chemokine receptors. We currently are analyzing CD8 T cell function in each stage of differentiation.
