Travel Awards for Young Investigators |

Kumamoto AIDS Seminar provides travel awards to promising young investigators/ graduate students engaged in AIDS research (Category A) and undergraduate students who intend to study HIV/AIDS (Category B).
|
|
Category A |
The purpose of this award is to provide young investigators and graduate students an opportunity to present their research and receive valuable input from established international and domestic scientists. By doing so, the award will directly and indirectly promote HIV/ AIDS research. |
|
Eligibility: |
|
To be eligible for this award, you must:
- present a poster and give an oral presentation (if selected) on HIV/AIDS research at the seminar. You must be the first author and present your research in English.
- be a graduate student or a young investigator (postdoctoral fellow or clinician) who does not hold a tenured position. People affiliated with Kumamoto University are not eligible for this award.

Category B |
The purpose of this award for undergraduate students is to provide an opportunity for them to immerse themselves in cutting- edge HIV/AIDS research at the seminar and deepen their interest in HIV/ AIDS-related research. |
|
Eligibility: |
|
To be eligible for this award, you must:
- be undergraduate students who are interested in and intend to pursue HIV/AIDS research. (Kumamoto University students are also eligible).
- attend all sessions at the seminar and submit a report within one month after the seminar.
|

Selection Criteria: |
The travel awards will be selected by the program committee based on the quality and relevance of the submitted abstract as well as reasons for attending this seminar described in the application form. |
|
Award Provisions: |
The travel awards cover seminar-related expenses including transportation and lodging.
Note: The Seminar Administrative Office will make travel arrangements for airlines and lodging and will provide tickets/ coupons to awardees.
Travel cost incurred to travel to and from the seminar venue and hotel accommodation during the seminar will be covered by the award (in accordance with Kumamoto University’s travel expense rules). |

Estimated Number of Awardees: |
Up to 10 awardees will be selected. (A few awardees traveling from abroad will also be selected.) |
|

- Submission Acknowledgement:
An email confirmation will be sent to you within three days after the receipt of your application. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact Global COE Research Promotion Division.

- Result Notification:
All applicants will be notified of the selection results by September 3.
- Registration:
All awardees must submit the Registration Form (form1) by September 10. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
- Invitation Notification:
All awardees will be notified of awards (i.e. travel and lodging expenses) and necessary procedures to execute the awards.
