[1] Purpose |
AIDS Global COE Junior Research Associate Supporting Grants provide
support for young scientists and Ph. D. students to prepare them
to conduct research independently and become internationally competitive
scientists. |
[2] Eligibility |
Applicant must be a second year Ph. D. student or above and less
than two years of receiving the doctoral degree. Applicant must
work in a gCOE laboratory and engage directly in AIDS research.
Indirect involvement is not acceptable. |
[3] Application
Submission and Deadline |
Application Form must be prepared in English and submitted via
email to Ms. Takata(s-takata@kumamoto-u.ac.jp *@Please
change normal-width ) by Tuesday, January
12 . Review process will start immediately after submission
for each application. Therefore, interested individuals should
complete the application promptly.

[4] Award Provisions |
Awards provides
up to 500,000 yen per year to be used for research consumables.
Award recipients may be permitted to spend the maximum of one
third of their grants on nonexpendable supplies necessary for
research (computer software, electric dictionaries and so on).
Applicant who wish to purchase nonexpendable supplies must include
detailed information about the item(s) and justify the reason
for the purchase in Application Form. |
[5] Application
Review Procedure |
This
year, each application is appraised based on materials included
in application forms. Some applicants may be called for an interview
prior to the final decision. |

Reporting Requirements |
Grant recipients must submit
research reports around early March. |
Important
Notes: |
a)
Graduate students may discuss their research plans with their
mentors. However, they must not ask for
help in preparing Application Form.
b) Post-doctoral fellows must prepare the entire application independently.
c) Applicants will not be judged on their English skills.
d) Applicants are not allowed to ask for comments on their application
materials or for help in preparing the form, including proofreading
and writing any part of the application form for applicants. Any
infraction/ suspected infraction of the rules will lead to the
termination of the grant or immediate rejection of an application.
gCOE research assistantships will also be terminated for those
who violated the rules. They will not be permitted to apply for
this grant as well as gCOE RA in future.
