Program Description > International Collaborative Research Grants for Young Investigators
International Collaborative Research Grants aim at providing support for young investigators to enhance their research capabilities through the establishment of international research collaborations and preparing them to become internationally competitive scientists.
The grants provide up to JPY5, 000,000 per year to be used for international collaborative research conducted in Japan. It will support young investigators in the gCOE program for a period of one year and will be renewable for up to three years.
International Collaborative Research Grants for Young Investigators
1 Applicants (within seven years of receiving the doctoral degree and under 38 years of age) discuss projects with their international collaborators in advance.
2 Applicants submit English application forms to the International Research Committee.
3 Review of application is delegated to an external committee, and the final decision will be made by the International Research Committee. Applicants may be called for an interview prior to the final decision.

The funds are primarily designed to cover research conducted in Japan. Permission should be requested for research performed outside of Japan.

6 Ggrant recipients submit progress reports written in English to the International Research Committee at the end of February. The recipient will be invited to present their work in English at the gCOE International Seminar or Kumamoto AIDS Seminar in the following year.
7 Evaluation of research progress (the evaluation will be delegated to an external committee).
8 Evaluation forms will be sent to the grant recipients. *The grants are renewable annually for up to three years total.
