On September 14–15, 2026, the 27th Kumamoto AIDS Seminar was held, organized by Dr. Ikeda and Dr. Motozono. Early-career researchers and graduate students, the next generation of retrovirus research, took an active part in the discussions and poster sessions. Graduate students from our lab joined the discussions actively, which made it a very rewarding experience.

To strengthen future international collaboration, Dr. Motozono invited Dr. Hashem Koohy of the University of Oxford, a researcher working at the intersection of AI and immunology. Kumamoto University and the University of Oxford have worked together in research for more than 35 years, and this visit helped build a new generation of partnerships.
