We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ryuki Tokunaga, a first-year Ph.D. student and physician from the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Kumamoto University, to our laboratory.

Dr. Keisuke Kamada from the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Hokkaido University visited Kumamoto to attend a scientific meeting. During his visit, Motozono-sensei met with Kamada-sensei and our graduate student, Tajima-san (Department of Respiratory Medicine, Kumamoto University), to discuss our research on immune responses in nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease.

Our PhD student, Nakama (D3), spent three weeks (June 1–19) in Professor Takashi Aoi’s laboratory at Kobe University through the AMED HK2-MIRAI Three-University (Hiroshima University–Kobe University–Kumamoto University) Short-Term Laboratory Exchange Program, where he received hands-on training in experimental techniques.

You Min stayed in our lab as an intern from June 1st to June 5th for a collaborative research experiment. We’re glad that we got good results.

Motozono-sensei served as the organizer of the 32nd Virus Research Exchange Meeting. The speakers were You Min Ahn (La Trobe University, Australia), who is staying at the lab for collaborative research, and Dr. Masao Hashimoto of Emory University, a collaborator and visiting faculty member at the Joint Research Center for Human Retrovirus Infection, Kumamoto University.

PhD student, Nakama (D3), is currently staying in the laboratory of Prof. Takashi Aoi at Kobe University from June 1 to June 19 through the AMED HK2-MIRAI Three-University (Hiroshima Univ.–Kobe Univ.–Kumamoto Univ.) Short-Term Laboratory Exchange Program. During his stay, he is learning new experimental techniques and gaining valuable research experience.

Four first-year medical students of Kumamoto University visited the Division of Human Molecular Immunology for a lab tour. We hope this experience will inspire their interest in basic research on human immunity!
