Our laboratory is currently seeking motivated students who are interested in studying infection & immunity and contributing to the development of new therapeutic strategies for viral infections. In our research environment, students have the opportunity to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying functional human immune responses at the genetic, protein, and cellular levels while engaging in cutting-edge biomedical research.
We actively promote international collaborations with research groups in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Africa.
We welcome applications to the Graduate School of Medical Sciences at Kumamoto University (Master’s and PhD programmes). Previous research experience is not required; we are particularly interested in highly motivated students with strong curiosity and enthusiasm for research. Our current graduate students come from diverse academic backgrounds, including medicine, chemistry, peptide chemistry, and clinical laboratory science, and each pursues independent research projects that build on their own strengths.
Because our research focuses on human immunity, we also warmly welcome clinicians who wish to engage in basic research alongside their clinical work. Together, we aim to advance research towards overcoming viral infections.
For further information about graduate programmes and scholarships (MEXT or JASSO etc), please contact us using the details below or consult the university’s official information pages.
Medical students who are interested in biomedical research are also encouraged to contact us. Recently, there has been growing concern about the decline in physician–scientists. By engaging in advanced biomedical research at an early stage, we hope to help train future clinicians and researchers in the field of infectious diseases who possess broad perspectives and strong scientific insight.
