Founded as the first and only academic institute devoted for HIV/AIDS research in Japan, Kumamoto University Center for AIDS Research serves as the core for this gCOE program. In addition to the Center, the program also promotes research and provides world- class training opportunities at Tokyo Education and Research Center (International medical Center of Japan and adjacent Kumamoto University Tokyo Liaison Lab), collaborating International research organizations, and Overseas Liaison Laboratories (OLL).
