Guidelines for Research Assistantships
Applications for FY2009 is now closed.
[1] Eligibility
Doctoral students working for gCOE faculty members are encouraged to apply for this research fellowship(Include government-sponsored international students). However, fully employed students, JSPS fellows, and students who receive a large medical-treatment benefits or full scholarships are not eligible to apply.
[2] Salary
Research assistants(RA) will receive stipends of approximately JPY30,000 for the maximun of 25 hours of work per momth as RA.
[3] The period of appointment
The assistantship appointment period is from January, 2010 to March 31, 2010 for FY2009.

First-year doctoral students may fill out their application forms in Japanese although English is preferred.

The closing date for FY2009 applications is December 16, 2009, 10:00 am

[7] Selection Criteria
Applications will be judged based on the application materials submitted
[8] Student Responsibility
Students who are appointed with the research assistantship are required to
1) participate in the WYI-Seminar series, give a presentation, and submit monthly reports at the end of each month.
2) submit a research report written in English by mid-February
[9] Others
  1. Continuation of the Research Assistantship after the first appointment period will be subject to a satisfactory performance review based on multiple evaluation criteria, including WYI seminar participation and the research report.
  2. Application forms should be prepared in English. However, applications will be judged based on the information included in application forms and not on applicants' English skills. Therefore, forms should be prepared solely by applicants.
*Applicants will receive feedback on their English skills as well, and applicants' supervisors should not be involved in application preparation.
