[1] The Grant
This grant provides one-year period of support to young investigators who conducting international collaborative research at the initial stage, aims to facilitate a smoothly process to full-scale international collaborative research consequently.
[2] Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Applicant must be an employee of Kumamoto University and a member of a laboratory participating in the AIDS gCOE Program.
  2. Applicant must be under 42 years of age, and within ten years of receiving the doctoral degree at the time of submission deadline
  3. Proposal research must be an international collaborative research at the initial stage or in progress. (Collaborative research which has not started yet is not eligible)
[3] Application and Review Procedure

Applicants must discuss proposal research with their international collaborators in advance. Application Form must be submitted in English. Applicants may seek advice from senior mentors; however senior mentors should not be directly involved in the application preparation.

The AIDS gCOE Grant Review Board will evaluate applications and make the final decision. Applicants may be called for an interview if necessary.  

This grant provides support for only one year. A maximum of three Grants will be offered each year; however, contingent upon availability of funds and scientific merit of the applications, four or more grants may be awarded.

  9. Publication List of Applicant during the past three years
  10. Publication List of Collaborator during the past three years

[4] Award Provisions

Recipients will be awarded with an annual amount up to 1,500,000 JPY to be used for research expenses. However, awarded amount varies according to recipient’s evaluation score.

  • Up to 1,500,000 JPY to recipients with evaluation score A. Score A will be given to extremely excellent proposal research, which is strongly anticipated to process to International Collaborative Research Grant consequently.
  • Up to 1,000,000 JPY to recipients with evaluation score B. Score B will be given to excellent proposal research, which is highly anticipated to process to International Collaborative Research Grant consequently.
  • Up to 500,000 JPY to recipients with evaluation score C. Score C will be given to good proposal research, which has adequate potential to process to International Collaborative Research Grant consequently.
[5] Obligation of Grant Recipients
Recipients are required to submit Research Reports by the end of fiscal year.
