Guidelines for Research Assistantships
Applications for FY2011 is now closed.

[1] Eligibility
Foreigner Doctoral students working for gCOE faculty members, who enroll in AIDS Course from October, 2011 are encouraged to apply for this research fellowship. However, fully employed students, JSPS fellows, and students who receive a large medical-treatment benefits or full scholarships are not eligible to apply.
[2] Salary
・Government-sponsored international students will receive stipends of approximately JPY30,000 for the maximum of 25 hours of work/month.
・Other than those above: approximately JPY 60,000, JPY 90,000 or JPY 150,000 /month. However, stipend amount can be reduced if employee has other incomes.
[3] The period of appointment
After employment procedure finishes to March 31, 2012

Privately-funded students:
Friday, September 30, 2011 (Judgment will start promptly after applications are received.)
The application should be submitted by the applicant’s mentor.
Applications with research outlines such as research themes are acceptable.
In that case, please submit another application with detailed research content at a later date.

Government-sponsored international students:
Tuesday, October 11, 2011 (Judgment will start promptly after applications are received.)

[7] Selection Criteria
Applications will be judged based on
1)the application materials submitted ・・・ start prompt after applications received
2)interviews ・・・ if necessary
[8] Student Responsibility
Students who are appointed with the research assistantship are required to
1) participate in the WYI-Seminar series, give a presentation, and submit monthly reports at the end of each month.
2) submit a research report written in English by mid-February
[9] Others
  1. Continuation of the Research Assistantship after the first appointment period will be subject to a satisfactory performance review based on multiple evaluation criteria, including WYI seminar participation and the research report.
  2. Application forms should be prepared in English. However, applications will be judged based on the information included in application forms and not on applicants' English skills. Therefore, forms should be prepared solely by applicants.
*Applicants will receive feedback on their English skills as well, and applicants' supervisors should not be involved in application preparation.
